The $TRUMP meme coin, which launched on the Solana blockchain earlier this month, soared 1,100% within 36 hours – and according to Binance, currently has a paper value of $8.5 billion. It’s arrival caused an immediate stir throughout Washington DC and cryptocurrency circles as it seemingly endorses controversial meme coins that carry a lot of hype and minimal long-term value.

While the coin has dominated headlines for its explosive debut, what’s less known is the Australian connection.

“The website gettrumpmemes.com was created with Relume and hosted on Webflow,” Relume founder and CEO Dan Anisse tells Forbes Australia. “We can confirm this by inspecting the code of the website.”

Relume was founded in Sydney by Anisse and Adam Mura in 2020. It allows users to quickly and easily create websites.

“In short, Relume is an AI website builder that creates marketing websites that can be exported into Webflow, Figma and React,” says Anisse.

A subscription to Relume ranges from a free version with basic features to a professional offering that costs $64 and allows unlimited robust websites to be built each month. The backend of Relume uses a combination of Claude (Anthropic) and OpenAI.

Anisse found out that his company facilitated the gettrumpmemes.com website from his community of users.

“We’ve got a Slack Community of 12k users and some of them let me know through that,” says Anisse.

He calls the association with the viral $Trump meme coin an ‘awesome validation of the product’ and says it speaks to the global reach that the Australian startup has achieved.

“It’s definitely been a crazy ride from where we started to where we are now. Relume was originally started as just a website agency by me and Adam. From there, we’ve pivoted our way to now an AI website builder with over 500k sign-ups,” says Anisse.

The 34-year-old says he has been starting businesses since he left high school, and Relume is where he has had the most success.

“As you can imagine, the journey has had so many ups and downs, challenges and rewarding moments. We turned down a $35 million acquisition offer last year, which for me is an awesome achievement for both myself and the team,” says Anisse.

Entrepreneurship is a “terrifying and beautiful paradox,” the CEO says.

“The emotional journey of being an entrepreneur can be draining, but what makes it incredibly interesting is there is nothing I would ever trade for it — ever! The only way to stay sane is to try and stay neutral regardless of what is going on.”
