Ralph Lauren founded the Polo brand in 1967 with a set of neckties and since then the Polo name has been one of the most iconic brands in luxury fashion that will always be associated with the famous fashion designer. He once told Time magazine the name he used reflected the lifestyle he had admired on movie screens and in the pages of major magazines.
Lauren began producing Swiss-made watches in 2008 under the name, Ralph Lauren Watches and Fine Jewelry, in a partnership with the luxury holdings company, Richemont. The 50-50 partnership ended in 2018, about the same time when the Polo brand became associated with Ralph Lauren timepieces. The first watches placed the iconic logo of a polo player on a horse onto the watch dial. This iconic logo remains the mainstay of the Polo Ralph Lauren collection.
Today, the sporty watch line continues its evolution with a new design for the collection that combines elegance and performance. The luxury fashion brand says each of the new timepieces embraces the essence of sport through “bold and colourful graphics that embody the powerful energy of a sporty lifestyle.”
The new watches made an appearance on September 5 at the Ralph Lauren spring/summer 2025 runway show in the Hamptons, which kicked off New York Fashion Week.
The dial features a matte blue and black lacquered base adorned with white Super-LumiNova indexes. Complementing the dial design are white sword shaped hour and minute hands with a black base and a white seconds hand with a red lacquered base.
The dial is surrounded by an aluminum rotating bezel, “adding a contemporary touch to the classic design while providing additional utility for outdoor and sports activities,” the company said.
The new watches are powered by the caliber RL200 automatic movement made by Swiss watch movement manufacturer, Sellita, with a 38-hour power reserve. The 42mm stainless steel case has closed caseback, which enhances the watches’ durability and ensures water resistance, making them suitable for various environments and occasions. It is water resistant to 10 bar (328 feet). Using high-performance materials blending steel, aluminum and rubber, ensures the durability and accuracy of the timepieces, the company says. They are styled to be versatile as well.
The new 42mm Polo Sport Steel Watch line consists of two timepieces. The first has a green anodised aluminium bezel with an orange rubber strap and pin buckle. The second has a blue anodised aluminium bezel with a red rubber strap and pin buckle.
The watches are now available for purchase at select Ralph Lauren stores worldwide and online at RalphLauren.com. Each watch is priced at $1,690.
