Hublot has unveiled a suite of new luxury timepieces, including a new watch made in partnership with SORAI (Save Our Rhinos Africa India), at LVMH’s Watch Week.
Held in Singapore, Watch Week, which contrary to the name, only lasts two days, is a time for the major LVMH watch Maisons, Hublot, Bulgari, Tag Heuer and Zenith, to showcase their new releases.
Hublot, which is a Swiss manufacturer founded in 1980, unveiled eight new watches at the event, including the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic in yellow saxem – a material often used in satellites and lasers; the Big Bang Unico SORAI – where proceeds from sales will go directly to projects supported by SORAI; the Classic Fusion Original in gold, titanium and ceramic and various cases; and the Big Bang Rainbow Editions – a pair of “non-identical twin” watches in bejewelled case settings.
To attain this intense, fluorescent shade of yellow, Hublot claims it had to find a solution in space technology. The material, SAXEM, was developed in the field of satellite technology and had also been used in 2019 for the Big Bang MP-11.
The colours for the third limited edition Big Bang Unico SORAI were chosen to reflect the sunset, recalling the heightened danger faced by rhinos at nightfall. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the Unico SORAI will be donated to the organisation.
This Classic Fusion Original is an update on Hublot’s 1980 Classic Original. It’s available in yellow gold, titanium and ceramic, and the cases are available in 42, 38 and 33mm.
The Big Bang rainbow editions feature ruby, amethyst, blue topaz as well as a whole spectrum of sapphires – pink, orange, blue and yellow. The Integrated edition features 174 gemstones, and the Time Only features 176. The bracelet for each pieces features 768 and 748 gemstones respectively.
