Here’s how to stretch your annual leave by strategically booking around public holidays:

January
  • Book 5 leave days for 10 days off (all states and territories)
    Take annual leave from Monday 20 January to Friday 24 January and combine it with the Australia Day public holiday on Monday 27 January. You’ll get a 10-day break from Saturday 18 January to Monday 27 January.

Public holidays:

  • Wednesday 1 January — New Year’s Day
  • Monday 27 January — Australia Day (day in lieu)

February (TAS Only)

Maximise it:

  • Book 4 leave days for 9 days off
    Take leave from Tuesday 11 February to Friday 14 February to get a 9-day break from Saturday 8 February to Sunday 16 February.

Public holidays:

  • Monday 10 February — Royal Hobart Regatta
  • Wednesday 26 February — Launceston Cup (regional)

March

Maximise it:

  • Book 4 leave days for 9 days off (all states except NSW, QLD, NT)
    Take leave from Tuesday 11 March to Friday 14 March and enjoy a 9-day break from Saturday 8 March to Sunday 16 March.
