It should come as no surprise that to arguably one of the greatest, if not THE greatest player to ever dribble a basketball who’s worth an estimated $3.5 billion dollars the sky’s the limit when it comes to car shopping. It was recently revealed that six-time NBA champion and sneaker mogul Michael Jordan is in fact the owner of the one-off Pininfarina Battista Targamerica sports car that was unveiled at this summer’s Monterey Car Week that’s estimated to be worth around $2.5 million.

The full electric roadster is clad in silver-and-blue bodywork with a tan leather-trimmed cabin. It puts a whopping 1,900 horsepower and an insane 1,726 pound-feet of torque to the pavement, which is good for a sudden 0-62 mph run in 1.86 seconds and a felonious top speed of 217 mph. Its range is a generous 300 miles on a charge.

As befits Michael Jordan, who’s known to enjoy a fine stogie, the custom-built hypercar includes a custom aluminum humidor and cigar holder fitted between the seats.

The Battista is the first exotic sports car to come from the famed Italian coachbuilder and design house, which today is owned by India automaker Mahinda, best known for rough-and-tumble off-road vehicles. Named for company founder Battista “Pinin” Farina, it’s said to be the most powerful road-legal car, let alone one that runs exclusively on kilowatts, ever produced in Italy.

Its sleek carbon fiber exterior is Ferrari-like in terms of its striking visual elements, with graceful curves running front to rear. The doors are hinged at the top and swing forward and upward. There’s a large and thin twin-panel wing at the rear. The interior is appropriately high-tech with multiple display screens and the ability to have a choice of faux engine sounds piped into the cabin.

As costly as the bespoke Pininfarina may be, it’s reportedly not the costliest vehicle in the personal fleet of Michael Jordan. That honor would go to a $3.5 million 30 Venom F5 Roadster His Airness acquired back in 2023. Jordan is also co-owner of racing team 23XI with three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin (pronounced twenty-three eleven, the name combines MJ’s Chicago Bulls jersey number and that of Hamlin’s Cup series car).
