Simran Kaur, who launched the podcast Girls That Invest in 2020, has taken out the top place for Oceania at the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards, which took place on May 22 in Shenzhen.
Kaur, who created and co-hosts the Girls That Invest podcast, took out top place for Oceania at the CWI Awards in Shenzhen on May 22. She, alongside ten other women impact entrepreneurs (women effecting change in the environmental or social space) were awarded the first place prize of US$100,000.
The 11 second-place awardees took home US$60,000, and the 11 in third place were awarded US$30,000. All in all, Cartier granted US$2 million in prize money.
Kaur was one of 33 fellows shortlisted by Cartier for its 2024 cohort, with the overall theme being ‘Forces for Good’.

New Zealand-born Kaur represented Oceania alongside Frances Bilbao, founder of Mums Matter Psychology, and Alison Harrington, founder of Resparke. Her podcast has been downloaded 6 million times, and nearly 6,000 women have participated in her six-week intensive masterclass.
“Every woman should have the tools and confidence to make informed investment decisions,” Kaur said. “Financially empowered women can have a ripple effect, fostering an environment of financial growth in their communities and inspiring a diverse new generation of investors.”
Back in December 2022, Kaur told Forbes that, of the GTI community and podcast audience, which is primarily millennial women, more than 25% had more than $50,000 saved and 40% had more than $15,000 invested outside of their retirement accounts.
Resparke’s Harrington was awarded second place for Oceania, and Bilbao took out third place.
