Apple iPhone 15 release: Here’s what to expect at the Wanderlust launch

The new iPhone 15 range is almost upon us, as Apple puts the final touches on its Wanderlust event. As usual, the big question is what can we expect from the tech giant? Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the launch.

When is the iPhone 15 being released?

The iPhone 15 launch hasn’t been officially announced, but it is widely speculated that the range will be unveiled tomorrow, at Apple Park in Cupertino California.

For over a decade now Apple has made a tradition of announcing a new device sometime around the Northern Hemisphere’s Autumn.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman – who predicted the unveiling date would be September 12 – has revealed he thinks the iPhone 15 will be released around September 22.

What can we expect?

As expected, Apple has been fairly tight-lipped around the ‘Wanderlust’ event but released a teaser image to fans last month.

If everything goes to plan, here’s what we can expect at the launch:

An iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which will not be called the iPhone 15 Ultra.

Then there will be Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra second-generation, plus Apple AirPods Pro second-generation, re-released with USB-C connector instead of Lightning, to match the new iPhones, according to tech contributor David Phelan.

A European Union law coming into practice in December 2024 will stipulate all phone manufacturers must adopt a common charge point. This is in an attempt to save consumers money and reduce tech waste.

Forbes understands the iPhone 15 range will also include nine different colours for customers to choose from.

When will the iPhone 15 go on sale?

While unconfirmed at this stage, Friday, September 22 is the date you can pencil in for the new iPhone 15 range to become available to the public.

How can I watch the Apple launch event?

The special event kicks off at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park. We will livestream the launch event right here from 10:00 am PT, on the 12th of September – or 3:00 am AEST on the 13th for Australian viewers.
