Pelorus Private Island is the newest addition to Northern Escape Collection’s range of boutique and sustainable experiences in Queensland.
Amongst the pristine waters and natural wildlife of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is Northern Escape Collection’s newest secluded hideaway – Pelorus Private Island.
“Pelorus Private Island is a rare offering on the Great Barrier Reef, where guests can enjoy unparalleled levels of privacy and personalised service, in a location that seamlessly combines nature with luxury,” said Morris Group Founder and Executive Chairman Chris Morris.
Pelorus is the only luxury private island residence in the region, offering visitors a new way to enjoy the tourist hotspot.
From snorkelling, jet-skiing, fishing, and more, there is a wide range of activities to enjoy on the island to help visitors make the most of the heritage-listed reef.
Guests can also enjoy boat charters and visit the Museum of Underwater Art in the John Brewer Reef.
For activities on dry land, the island also offers access to Australia’s largest island national park, Hinchinbrook Island – with hiking trails, waterfalls, and diverse flora and fauna.
Of course, for somewhere so naturally isolated, it is only right that the journey there is part of the experience as well; the island is only accessible via helicopter or private superyacht.
The residence has four suites and sleeps eight guests, with architecture and interiors by Dubois Design.
The Northern Escape Collection is a curated portfolio of boutique and sustainable accommodations in Queensland, designed for the luxury traveller.
Other experiences in the collection include the Orpheus Island Lodge, the Daintree Ecolodge, the Mt Mulligan Lodge, and more.
Luxury travel
Luxury travellers are a niche yet significant market.
According to Tourism Australia, although they represent only 4% of the out-of-region market, luxury travellers travel and spend more than most – averaging just over five trips in five years.
And it’s easy to see how luxury travellers spend more than most – a stay at Pelorus will cost you $20 000 a night. With a minimum three night stay, visitors will be handing over at least $60k to enjoy the island.
“Pelorus Private Island aligns with the growing consumer demand for ultra-luxe products that offer exclusivity, privacy, and remoteness while allowing them to connect and spend time with loved ones,” said Morris.
“The intimate dwelling is best shared with family and friends looking for a truly memorable getaway on the reef together. The secluded and highly private nature of the residence will attract a calibre of premium travellers not often seen in this part of the world.”
Pelorus Private Island will be open for visitors in November this year.
