Vida Glow launch ‘groundbreaking’ Pro Collagen+

The company, a global early adopter of marine collagen in supplements, has launched what it claims is its most innovative collagen complex yet, Pro Collagen+, to transform its customers’ skin, hair and nails – even if it means it’s now competing with itself.

In its 10th year, ingestible beauty brand Vida Glow has set out to launch what it claims is its most innovative collagen complex yet: Pro Collagen+. The new product aims to target deeper lines, wrinkles, skin elasticity and hydration by introducing tripeptide marine collagen – the smallest collagen peptide currently available.

“When our research led us to marine collagen tripeptides, the compelling clinical data set off close to two years of further study, formulation testing and consumer trialling before we could confidently bring a product to market that we know is the most superior collagen formulation available,” Vida Glow founder, Anna Lahey, says.

“Since Vida Glow launched 10 years ago, we haven’t stopped innovating. Nutraceutical science is evolving rapidly; if you’re not willing to evolve, you’re letting your customers down.”

Vida Glow, a first mover in marine collagen supplements, has always used a low-molecular-weight-hydrolysed marine collagen extracted from the skin of fish, but it says its new Pro Collagen+ takes results even further: according to Vida Glow, one gram of tripeptide marine collagen is five-times more effective than standard collagen peptides.

“When we saw the significant impact that marine collagen tripeptides had on skin concerns in just three weeks, which is less than one box of Pro Collagen+, we saw an opportunity to do more for our customers and their skin, hair and nails. Even if that meant we’re now competing against ourselves,” Lahey says.

Over the past decade, Vida Glow has sold more than 20 million units globally, reaching $1.5 billion in total retail sales value. In Australia, the company has experienced 40% year-on-year growth, and the UK is also proving its appetite for clinically-backed ingestible beauty solutions, with a growth rate of 80% year-on-year. Now, one of Vida Glow’s Natural Marine Collagen sachet sells every four seconds.

But what Lahey says she’s most proud of is the company’s customer retention rate of 70%.

“We wouldn’t have such a high return rate if the products didn’t work. Our customers are loyal to our products and the transformative results they experience.”

Vida Glow’s rigorous research and development process is key to achieving those results.

During the R&D process for Pro Collagen+, Lahey says the business conducted the largest consumer trial it has ever held, inviting people aged 20 to 75 to trial the product for 12 weeks and measure their results with regular check-ins.

Those trials found that in some participants, forehead wrinkles were reduced by up to 82% in six weeks and crows-feet wrinkles by up to 39%. In a double-blind placebo-controlled trial supplementing 2.5 grams daily of Pro Collagen+, which is one sachet, the company’s tripeptide marine collagen was shown to reduce wrinkle count by an average of 42% in three weeks.

Vida Glow backed its product to the extent that it didn’t use commercial models to market it: the company instead put out an Instagram call-out to cast three women who had never tried collagen supplements before. Each took a sachet a day for three weeks before sharing their unfiltered feedback online. All noted increased hydration, smoother skin and increased confidence.

“We’ve always been at the forefront of ingestible beauty innovation, but we’re not interested in bringing anything to market if it’s not supported by robust clinical evidence that confirms results superior to anything that already exists,” Lahey says. “Real, visible results have always been our ethos.”
