With a spin on the colourful and iconic Cartier Tutti Frutti high jewels, the French luxury brand is set to unveil a new collection called, “Tutti Tutti.” It will be available September 1. The collection arises from Cartier Libre, a branch of Cartier that creates watches, jewellery and accessories that are known for their innovation and creative freedom.

Tutti Frutti jewels, inspired by the colourful gem-centric jewels of India, are known for their bright and bold combinations of sapphires, rubies, emeralds engraved or sculpted in the shape of leaves, buds and berries, cut into cabochons, as well as smooth or fluted beads.

The new Tutti Tutti collection also uses gemstones sculpted in various shapes or cut into cabochons. The difference is the jewels are more abstract, reflecting a contemporary essence. The innovative designs feature bright colour combinations, contrasting themes, unexpected volumes and soft lines. Nature may be one of the influences of this new collection, but it is an expansive take on a traditional theme.

For example, there are rings spiked with colourful pendants that sparkle with movement. These pieces are studded with diamonds and onyx in strands that create a chromatic scale of black, green and white, a colour combination is consistent with the brand’s jewels and watches since the beginning of the 20th century.

One of the ring styles in the collection feature a melon cut with its ribbed grooves and engraved volume in either amethyst or chrysoprase, which serves as the center stone. The gem is topped with yellow gold and a pyramid-shaped diamond. The shank of the ring is crafted in ribbed 18k yellow gold that matches the gemstone. In addition, an all-gold torque bracelet has a grooved bezel of alternating diamonds and onyx.

A set of geometrically designed bracelets and rings features an orderly grouping of 18k white gold triangles encased in diamonds. This motif is offset with chaotic sets of yellow gold beads.

Watches are part of the offerings in this collection. One timepiece explodes with bubbles of various sizes and colours, crafted with blue and white opals, rubellite, blue chalcedony and tanzanite. In the center, a tiny dial paved in snow-set diamonds is illuminated by sapphire hour markers. The dial is completed with a textured rose gold bezel and bracelet.

Inspired by the Cartier Coussin watch, a ring and bracelet set are smoothly paved with sapphires in a pattern of pastel shades, giving the pieces an appearance of firmness and flexibility.

Another watch is based on the classic shape of the Cartier tête-à-tête bracelet. This jewellery watch transposes the animal theme into an abstract form, uniting two signature chromatic themes. One side showcases red and green colours with coral and emerald.

The other side is blue and green, reflecting Louis Cartier’s “peacock décor,” Cartier says. It combines silvered obsidian, chalcedony, chrysoprase and amethyst cabochons. A tiny snow-set dial is set into the coral-side end, surrounded by a crown of emerald cabochons. The watch slips onto the wrist with a twist.

The Tutti Tutti collection includes a limited-edition jewellery box with a melon cut chrysoprase gemstone as a central motif. It’s crowned with pyramid-shaped onyx. The main gem is encircled by a black wood marquetry crown.

The top of the box is further encircled in a marquetry of Tulipier and Sycamore wood in four shades of blue. The wood pattern is sectioned with five strands of gold-coloured thread in a crown-like pattern. Another strand of gold coloured thread frames the top-edge of the box. The jewelry box is limited to 10 pieces.
